CITY'S BIKE SCHEME SET FOR LAUNCH.

LIVERPOOL'S new Citybike cycle hire scheme was set to be officially launched today by Olympic gold medallist Chris Boardman.

Under the scheme, 80 bikes are available to hire from 10 stations across the city - planned to rise to 1,000 bikes at 100 locations by 2015.

Citybike is similar to the scheme used in central London.

The bikes in Liverpool cost PS3 to hire for a day, with an additional charge of PS1 per hour for any cycling time over two hours. A weekly hire costs PS9 with a PS1-perhour additional charge for any cycling time over four hours.

An annual subscription is available for PS60.
