CITIZENS STATE BANK OF NEVADA AGREES TO PURCHASE DEPOSITS OF MERCANTILE BANK OF WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI BRANCH OFFICE

 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Lynn A. Harmon, chairman and chief executive officer of Central Mortgage Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: CMBI), and Thomas B. Fitzsimmons, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Mercantile Bank of West Central Missouri, announced today that an affiliate of CMBI, Citizens State Bank of Nevada, has agreed to purchase the deposits of the Mercantile Bank of West Central Missouri branch office at Butler, Mo. The Citizens State Bank plans to continue operating a facility in Butler. Deposits at the Butler facility total approximately $15 million. The purchase is subject to the approval of the banking regulators which should occur in the next 120 days. Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
 Dean Derks, president of Citizens State Bank of Nevada, exclaimed, "We are very happy to have a facility in Butler and provide service to the citizens of Butler and Bates County, Mo. We anticipate announcing plans soon for a new facility featuring full banking service, safe deposit boxes, drive thru service and a full range of deposit and loan products."
 Central Mortgage Bancshares, Inc., recently announced annual earnings of $3,737,000 or $1.52 per share on the fully diluted common stock for the 12 months ended Dec. 31, 1992.
 In addition to Citizens State Bank of Nevada, CMBI operates three other subsidiary banks. They are Barton County State Bank in Lamar; Citizens-Jackson County Bank in Kansas City, Independence, Blue Springs, Lee's Summit, Warrensburg and Chilhowee; and Farmers Bank of Stover. The company's Mortgage Banking Division is headquartered in Springfield with branches in Blue Springs and Joplin.
