CITIZENS NAMES TWO MEMBERS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 PROVIDENCE, R.I., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lawrence K. Fish today announced the appointment of Lewis B. Campbell, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Textron, and David B. Jenkins, chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc., to the board of directors of Citizens Financial Group, anizations through a period of planned growth and expansion, and we look forward to their guidance as the board of directors for Citizens Financial Group widens the reach of its service to more customers throughout New England."
 Campbell joined Textron in Sept. 1992 as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Textron, with annual revenues of $8.3 billion, is the largest manufacturing company headquartered in Rhode Island. Prior to joining Textron, he was employed by General Motors where he served in various leadership capacities both domestically and in Canada, including tenure as vice president of General Motors and general manager of GM's GMC truck division, vice president of General Motors and general manager of GM's Flint (Mich.) automotive division of the Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac group, and executive director of the company's GM-UAW Quality Network.
 Campbell also serves on the board of Textron Financial Corporation in Providence and on the board of Avco Financial Services in Irvine, Calif.
 Campbell is a graduate of Duke University and has received an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Alabama.
 David B. Jenkins is chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc., a 79- store food retailing firm in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island. Shaw's is headquartered in East Bridgewater, Mass.
 There are currently three Shaw's stores in Rhode Island, and 25 stores south of Boston, and in 1993, seven new supermarkets are scheduled for opening, including new stores in Warwick and North Warwick, Rhode Island, and in Hanover and Plymouth, Mass.
 Shaw's is a wholly owned subsidiary of J Sainsbury plc, the largest food retailer in the United Kingdom.
 Jenkins has been active in a number of community organizations in southeastern Mass. He served as president of the United Ways of New England and provided leadership for the 1992 campaign, raising approximately $26 million for 23 partner United Way agencies serving communities from Cape Cod to Central Massachusetts, and the Southeastern New England United Way based in Providence. He is also active with the Fuller Art Museum in Brockton.
 Jenkins serves as director of the Food Marketing Institute, the largest trade association of the retail food industry, and as chairman of the Uniform Code Council which is the standard body for coding product for scanning purposes in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Before joining Shaw's, Jenkins had 20 years experience in the manufacturing, importing and exporting of fiber materials for the shoe, auto and electrical industries.
 He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a graduate of Wesleyan University, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
 Lewis B. Campbell, 46, joined Textron in Sept. 1992 as executive vice president and chief operating officer after nearly a quarter- century with General Motors.
 Campbell joined GM in 1968 and rose through the ranks to become vice president of General Motors and general manager of GM's GMC Truck Division in 1991. In 1988 he was named vice president of General Motors and general manager of GM's Flint Automotive Division in the Buick- Oldsmobile-Cadillac Group.
 Campbell in 1987 was named executive director of the company's GM- UAW Quality Network in the Quality, Reliability and Service Parts Operations Group. In 1984 he was promoted to manufacturing manager of the Chevrolet-Pontiac-GM of Canada Group. Campbell was named general manufacturing manager in 1981 of the Rochester Product Division.
 Campbell is a graduate of Duke University and is a recipient of an Honorary Ph.D. from the University of Alabama.
