CITIBANK MASTERCARD AND VISA OFFERS

 NEW YORK, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Citibank MasterCard and Visa today announced its newest customer purchase protection program -- Citibank Lifetime Warranty(SM). The program extends the term of the original manufacturer's U.S. warranty on repairs for the expected service life of eligible products. This unique service benefit program is available at no additional charge to Citibank Classic, Preferred and Premier MasterCard and Visa cardmembers.
 "We want to provide our cardmembers with the assurance that, when they make a purchase, they will have the use of that item for its expected service life. On some products, Citibank Lifetime Warranty could mean extending the term of the manufacturer's warranty up to 12 years," Ruvan Cohen, Citibank's director of marketing of bankcards, said. "That's of real value for our cardmembers."
 Citibank Lifetime Warranty applies to most major household appliances, consumer electronics, small appliances and outdoor appliances.
 Cardmembers who wish to register an item purchased with their Citibank credit card must call 800-497-4852 within 60 days of purchase to request a registration kit. A Citibank Lifetime Warranty Customer Service representative will explain the details of the program. Cardmembers may register as many items as they purchase that meet the program's requirements.
 "Now our customers may never have to purchase additional extended warranties through retailers, which can run in excess of $200 on a major purchase," Mr. Cohen said. "This will lead to real savings for our cardmembers."
 Customer Service representatives will also assist cardmembers in arranging
for repairs or replacements as outlined in the product warranty. The program is provided by the New Hampshire Insurance


Company (NHIC), a member company of the American International Group, Inc. (AIG). Individual claims can be made for any amount up to the original purchase price or $1,000, whichever is less. There is no limit to the number of claims made, but the total claims paid per cardmember may not exceed a total of $2,500 for purchases in a plan year. The plan year runs from June 1, 1993, to May 31, 1994. Some restrictions do apply.
 Citibank Lifetime Warranty will be launched nationwide with a television commercial and through a direct marketing campaign, including statement inserts, Citibank card products' newsletters and stand-alone direct mail pieces. Customer Service representatives will be available Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-12:30 a.m. (EDT), and Saturday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. (EDT) to answer questions about this program.
 Combined with Citibank's Price Protection, Citibank Lifetime Warranty offers Classic, Preferred and Premier cardmembers unsurpassed protection and service on most card purchases. All of Citibank MasterCard and Visa's retail protection services are provided to cardmembers at no additional charge.

 HOW IT WORKS: If a Citibank customer purchases an eligible item for personal use with a Citibank Classic, Preferred or Premier card, that item can be registered in the Citibank Lifetime Warranty program. This program extends the term of the original manufacturer's U.S. warranty for most eligible items to cover the expected service life of the item. The expected service life varies by product.
 Cardmembers can request a registration kit by calling 800-497-4852. A Customer Service representative will forward a registration form to be filled out and returned within 60 days of purchase along with copies of the original manufacturer's U.S. warranty, the store receipt, the Citibank card receipt and any other extended warranty the cardmember may have bought.
 When Citibank receives the completed registration materials, the purchase will be registered in the Citibank Lifetime Warranty program. Citibank will notify cardmembers of the additional years of coverage provided for each registered item.
 WHO CAN USE IT: The service will be offered at no additional charge to Citibank Classic, Preferred and Premier MasterCard and Visa cardmembers. No other major national bankcard offers this service.
 HOW TO FILE A CLAIM: The cardmember calls the Citibank Lifetime Warranty's service number. A Customer Service representative will process the claim and arrange for repair or replacement of the item, as outlined in the original warranty.
