CIRCUS CIRCUS ANNOUNCES SITE APPROVAL IN TUNICA, MISS.
LAS VEGAS, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Circus Circus Enterprises Inc. today announced that it has received site approval from the Mississippi Gaming Commission for its proposed dockside development in Tunica, Miss. The company announced on Thursday its preliminary agreement to acquire a site to be jointly developed by ITT Sheraton and Horseshoe of Las Vegas. All three companies received site approval from the commission on Monday. Last week, Circus also announced a joint venture with the Eldorado Hotel/Casino, a privately held company, to develop and operate "Project C" in downtown Reno, Nev. The themed project will depict a 16th Century Spanish seaport on the island of Atlantis. Included in the project will be approximately 2,000 rooms, 60,000 square feet of gaming, three levels of entertainment, five themed restaurants, and seven levels of parking, totaling 2,800 spaces. Circus Circus Enterprises Inc. operates seven properties in Nevada: Excalibur Hotel/Casino; the Circus Circus Hotel/Casinos in Las Vegas and Reno; the Colorado Belle and Edgewater hotel-casinos in Laughlin, Nev.; and Slots-A-Fun and Silver City casinos in Las Vegas. The company's eighth property, Luxor Hotel/Casino, is scheduled to open on the Las Vegas Strip in October of this year.
