CIRCUIT CITY STORES, INC. REPORTS JULY SALES RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Circuit City Stores, Inc.
(NYSE: CC) today reported July sales of $245.2 million, which represents a 15 percent increase from July 1991 sales of $212.9 million and a 6 percent increase in comparable store sales.
"July's comparable store sales growth slightly exceeded expectations but were achieved in a highly promotional and competitive environment," said Richard L. Sharp, Circuit City's president and chief executive officer. During the month, Circuit City opened its first Superstore in Corpus Christi, Texas, and added a store in the Tampa, Fla., market. Circuit City Stores, Inc. is the nation's largest specialty retailer of brand-name consumer electronics and major appliances.
