CIRCUIT CITY STORES, INC., REPORTS NOVEMBER SALES

 RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Circuit City Stores, Inc. (NYSE: CC), today reported November sales of $410.5 million, which represents a 25 percent increase from November 1992 sales of $328.1 million and a 6 percent increase in comparable store sales.
 Sales for the third quarter ended Nov. 30, 1993, were $1.02 billion, a 26 percent increase from $805.4 million in the third quarter of last year. Comparable store sales rose 5 percent for the quarter.
 "Our sales for the third quarter met expectations despite a highly competitive retail environment and continued economic challenges in Southern California," said Richard L. Sharp, Circuit City's president and chief executive officer. Circuit City plans to release third quarter earnings on Dec. 14.
 During November, Circuit City opened 17 stores, including two additional Superstores in Boston and nine Superstores in Chicago. The company now operates 14 Superstores in the Boston market and 18 in Chicago. Circuit City also added two Superstores in San Francisco, one Superstore each in San Diego and Los Angeles and closed a Superstore in Richmond. A replacement for the Richmond store opened in October. The November store openings also include two smaller stores designed to serve less populated markets. These stores opened in Fredericksburg, Va., and Harrisonburg, Va.
 Circuit City Stores, Inc., is the nation's largest specialty retailer of brand-name consumer electronics and major appliances. With headquarters in Richmond, it operates 253 Superstores, seven Circuit City stores and 37 smaller, mall-based stores in the eastern, midwestern and western United States.
