CINCINNATI MILACRON COMPLETES PURCHASE OF FERROMATIK PLASTICS INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE BUSINESS

CINCINNATI, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a preliminary announcement two weeks ago, Cincinnati Milacron Inc. (NYSE: CMZ) said it had completed its acquisition of the Ferromatik plastics injection molding machine business from Klockner Werke AG, Duisburg, Germany. The purchase, for DM 94 million (approximately $56 million) in cash and assumed debt, included product lines with annual sales of about $100 million, a major manufacturing facility in Malterdingen south of Stuttgart, a worldwide distribution network and 600 employees. The transaction is expected to have no material effect on Milacron's earnings in 1993.
One of the world's leading producers of injection molding machines, Ferromatik is recognized for its high-end technology including multi-color machines, multi-component systems and other specialty applications. "In addition to its excellent products and technology, Ferromatik also gives Milacron a strong distribution system in Europe, which will help us in the export of our U.S.-built Vista injection molding machines," said Daniel J. Meyer, Milacron chairman and chief executive officer. "So, we expect this acquisition to benefit Milacron greatly, in more ways than one."
Cincinnati Milacron is a leading worldwide manufacturer of plastics processing machinery for injection molding, blow molding and extrusion. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Milacron is also a major producer of machine tools, computer controls, software, flexible manufacturing cells and systems, precision grinding wheels, metalworking fluids and Valenite metalcutting tools. With anticipated 1993 consolidated sales of approximately $1 billion, Milacron now has 19 plants in the U.S. and Europe and 8,600 employees worldwide.
