CIMETRICS DEBUTS NEW BACNET PROTOCOL ANALYZER RELEASE.

Cimetrics Inc., Boston, a developer of integrated building automation communication solutions, has released a new version of its BACnet Protocol Analyzer (BPA). BPA2 is a powerful software tool for BACnet analysis and development of robust BACnet building automation networks. Cimetrics' BPA2 runs in the DOS window under Windows NT and offers real-time capture of BACnet and non-BACnet packets with full BACnet packet decoding to allow for transmission assurance and implementation.

"Our BPA2 software provides users with a powerful tool for answering questions about the implementation of a BACnet network, and transmission between devices," said Jim Lee, president of Cimetrics. "Virtually all of today's serious BACnet developers use our BACnet Protocol Analyzer for the analysis and development of BACnet-based networks."

BPA2 allows users to view BACnet network traffic and debug BACnet network drivers. Coupled with a network interface card and a packet driver or ODI driver, BPA2 can turn any Windows NT-based system into a real-time BACnet protocol and network analysis tool. The BPA2 software supports BACnet's ISO 8802-3 (Ethernet) and BACnet/IP on Ethernet data link layers.

Developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), BACnet is the leading communication protocol for building automation systems and for many other distributed control and monitoring applications. It provides a common control language for an unlimited variety of building automation systems, including HVAC, security and fire safety, lighting, vertical transport (elevators and escalators) and energy management. BACnet communicates control information over standard data link technologies such as Ethernet, ARCNET, serial networks and TCP/IP. BACnet Protocol Analyzer is currently available for $3,995.
