CIGNA CORPORATION ANNOUNCES EFFECT OF NORTHEASTERN STORM AND INCREASES FOR HURRICANES ANDREW AND INIKI

 PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- CIGNA (NYSE: CI) announced today that the estimated effect of the December northeastern winter storm, combined with increased costs associated with Hurricanes Andrew and Iniki, will reduce fourth quarter 1992 net income by $33 million, or $0.46 per share.
 The after-tax estimate for the winter storm was $20 million, and the increases for Andrew and Iniki were $5 million and $8 million, respectively.
 Fourth quarter results for CIGNA's consolidated operations are scheduled to be reported on Feb. 16, 1993.
 The CIGNA companies are leading providers of insurance, health care, employee benefits, pension and investment management, and related financial services to businesses and individuals worldwide.
