CIGNA BOARD ELECTS AS DIRECTOR DR. LOUIS W. SULLIVAN, FORMER SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

 PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- CIGNA Corporation (NYSE: CI) announced today that Louis W. Sullivan, M.D., president of Morehouse School of Medicine and Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Bush Administration, has been elected to CIGNA's board of directors.
 The CIGNA board of directors also determined that six directors will be elected at the 1993 annual meeting of shareholders, scheduled for April 28. Four of those directors will be elected for terms expiring in 1996: Evelyn Berezin, James F. English, Jr., Gerald D. Laubach and Ezra K. Zilkha; and two will be elected for terms expiring in 1995: Robert H. Campbell, who joined the board in September, and Dr. Sullivan.
 "We are fortunate to have Dr. Sullivan join our Board," said Wilson H. Taylor, chairman and chief executive officer of CIGNA. "With his broad administrative and business experience, he will be a highly valued source of advice and counsel."
 Sullivan, 59, has been involved in academic medicine for most of his distinguished career. Prior to his service with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, he was president of Morehouse School of Medicine and earlier was dean of the medical school, which he helped to develop. From 1973 to 1975, he was director of Hematology at Boston City Hospital, following more than a decade with Boston University as Professor of Medicine and Physiology and co-director of Hematology at the University's Medical Center.
 Sullivan is a graduate of Morehouse College and Boston University's School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Investigation, Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha.
