CIBA VISION LICENSES 3M CONTACT LENS TECHNOLOGIES
 ATLANTA, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Ciba Vision, a leader in the worldwide vision care industry, announced that it has entered into an agreement with 3M to license the rights to 3M's material and process technologies that relate to the field of contact lenses.
 The 3M contact lens technologies acquired by Ciba Vision include several patents and proprietary technology covering materials, processes and designs developed by 3M over the past decade. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
 "We are very pleased to enter into this agreement. 3M's contact lens technology has produced highly innovative materials and designs, and offers Ciba Vision a unique opportunity to add to its product development portfolio," said Dr. Glen Bradley, chief executive officer of Ciba Vision Worldwide. "The combination of internal research and development and licensing agreements such as this one allows Ciba Vision to fulfill our mission of developing quality products and services which will best satisfy our customer needs, and expectations."

 Ciba Vision (a subsidiary of Ciba-Geigy) based in Bulach, Switzerland, with companies in 27 countries, with U.S. headquarters in Atlanta, manufactures and markets a variety of contact lens and lens care products including NewVues(R) (vifilcon A) Disposable Soft Contact Lenses; FOCUS(R) Soft Contact Lenses for monthly replacement; and the AOSEPT(R) Lens Care System. Recently Ciba Vision added its newest division, Ciba Vision Ophthalmics, which was created to bring innovative applications of science to ocular therapeutics.
