CHUCK HARTQUIST NAMED PRESIDENT OF CHEVRON LAND AND DEVELOPMENT CO.
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- C.D. "Chuck" Hartquist has been named president of Chevron Land and Development Co. (CL&D), effective Dec. 16. He replaces Bill Foster, who died on Nov. 10 of a heart attack.
Prior to his new assignment, Hartquist was vice president for Trading Services with Chevron International Oil Co. (CIOC).
Hartquist, 49, joined Chevron in 1966 after graduating from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in business administration.
He held positions in engineering, finance and operations at the Richmond Refinery, spent two years with Arabian American Oil Co. in Saudi Arabia and then returned in 1975 to work for Corporation Supply and Distribution.
In 1979, Hartquist joined Chevron U.S.A. Operations and Business Planning. From 1980 to 1983, he was assistant to the president of Irving Oil, a Canadian affiliate of Chevron located in Saint John, New Brunswick. He joined CIOC in 1983 as an assistant general manager in the cargo trading group and became a CIOC vice president in 1985.
CL&D, a wholly owned Chevron subsidiary of Chevron Corp., develops and participates in real estate projects in California. Most are large single-family housing developments built atop depleted oil fields and other surplus sites. Major project locations include Richmond, Bakersfield, Los Angeles County and Orange County. The company also pursues commercial projects, such as shopping malls, office buildings and business parks.
Though focused historically on surplus Chevron acreage, CL&D in recent years has acquired other large California sites for development or resale after basic improvements. Acreage locations include San Diego, Ontario, Sonoma County and Ventura County.
CL&D reported combined 1990 revenues from operated or affiliated projects of more than $200 million.
