CHRYSLER TRUCKS AND DRIVERS MOVE DONATED SUPPLIES TO
KEY LARGO FOR HURRICANE ANDREW VICTIMS
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Three Chrysler Transport, Inc. tractor-trailer trucks loaded with donated supplies for the victims of Hurricane Andrew will leave Detroit for Florida at 5 a.m. Thursday.
Six drivers from UAW Local 212 are headed for a distribution center in Key Largo, Fla. A fourth tractor-trailer load of donated supplies is scheduled to leave from Toledo.
Hauling supplies to victims is not new for Chrysler Transport and its drivers. Previous efforts include supplies to Hurricane Hugo victims and hay to Atlanta because of the drought.
In addition, Chrysler announced Aug. 28 that it would match all contributions its U.S. employees send to the American Red Cross. Employees are asked to make checks payable to the American Red Cross and send them to the Chrysler Fund. The fund will forward all checks to the Red Cross, along with the corporation's matching donation.
