CHRYSLER REPORTS U.S. AND CANADIAN ASSEMBLY PLANTS SCHEDULE FOR WEEK OF MAY 1

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler Corporation (NYSE: C) reports seven of its nine U.S. assembly plants and all of its three Canadian assembly plants will operate the week of May 1.

Dodge City Complex-Warren (Mich.) Assembly Plant will operate two nine-hour shifts next week.

Jefferson North (Detroit, Mich.) Assembly Plant will operate two ten-hour shifts on Saturday, April 29 and three seven-and-a-half hour shifts next week.

Belvidere (Ill.), Sterling Heights (Mich.), St. Louis South (Fenton, Mo.) and Toledo (Ohio) assembly plants will operate two eight-hour shifts next week. Sterling Heights and Toledo will also work overtime with two eight-hour shifts on Saturday, April 29.

Newark (Del.) Assembly Plant will not operate next week because of inventory adjustment. About 3000 employees will be on temporary layoff. The plant will resume production the week of May 8.

New Mack Avenue Viper (Detroit, Mich.) Assembly Plant will operate one eight-hour shift throughout the week.

As previously reported, St. Louis (Fenton, Mo.) North Assembly Plant will not operate next week because of model changeover. The plant is scheduled to start production of Dodge Ram standard and Club Cab pickup trucks in August.

In Ontario, Canada, Bramalea and Pillette assembly plants will operate two eight-hour shifts. Windsor Assembly Plant will operate three seven-and-a-half-hour shifts on Saturday, April 29 and throughout next week.
