CHRYSLER ANNOUNCES PRICES FOR NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler Corporation

(NYSE: C) today announced Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices for the all-new 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee now in production. Public introduction at dealerships is April 19.
The Grand Cherokee is available in three models: Grand Cherokee base model at $18,980; the Laredo, $20,125; and the Limited, $27,433.
Grand Cherokee is the newest entry in the sport utility segment of the market, offering a combination of on-road comfort, ride and handling in addition to outstanding off-road performance in the Jeep tradition.
Grand Cherokee distinguishes itself from other sport utility vehicles with the first standard driver air bag; the most powerful I-6 engine in its class; four-wheel anti-lock brakes; unibody construction; three four-wheel drive systems, featuring Quadra-coil suspension, and the most interior shoulder room and front seat hip room in its class.
With Chrysler's Customer Preferred Order System, popular extra equipment is available in discount packages which can reduce the price compared to ordering the options individually. For example, a $1,000 Olympic discount is applied to a Laredo $1,755 value package that includes air conditioning, electric rear window defroster, power windows and door locks, keyless entry system and electronic AM/FM-cassette radio, reducing the price of the equipment to $755.
The four-speed overdrive automatic transmission adds $877 to the cost of the base and Laredo models. A five-speed manual will be available later in the year. The price of the Limited includes the automatic and many premium features not offered by competitors such as anti-theft system, overhead console, automatic temperature control, keyless entry system, ABS and driver air bag.
Grand Cherokee destination charges are $485, the same as other Jeep vehicles.
