CHRYSLER AND ITS EMPLOYEES DONATE $208,000
 TO VICTIMS OF HURRICANE ANDREW
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- A dollar-for-dollar matching donation program has raised $108,000 for victims of Hurricane Andrew, Chrysler Corporation (NYSE: C) announced today.
Approximately $54,000 donated by employees was matched by the Chrysler Corporation Fund. The entire $108,000 will be sent to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
"Our employees rallied to the south Florida cause quickly and generously," said A.C. "Bud" Liebler, Chrysler vice president of Communications. "They saw a need and tried in some small way to help fill it. We're gratified by their response."
The Chrysler Fund has also sent $100,000 to We Will Rebuild, a Florida civic and business organization created to rebuild the areas destroyed when Hurricane Andrew struck on Aug. 24. Damage is estimated at $20 billion. About 63,000 homes were destroyed and 300,000 people were left homeless.
Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge and Jeep-Eagle dealers in Florida plan to match the Fund's $100,000 donation to We Will Rebuild, said Herb Yardley, owner of Massey Yardley Chrysler Plymouth and Stuart Chrysler Dodge, both in the south Florida area.
