 CHRISTIE NAMED MINET CEO; PETTITT ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
 ST. PAUL, Minn., June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Raymond Pettitt, chairman


and chief executive officer of the Minet Group, has announced the appointment of Peter Christie as chief executive officer of the Minet Group, effective immediately. Pettitt will continue in the role of chairman until his retirement on Oct. 31, 1992. His retirement as executive vice president of The St. Paul Companies (NYSE: SPC) is effective immediately.
 The Minet Group is the London-based international insurance brokerage operation of The St. Paul Companies.
 Christie, 45, has been with Minet in various management positions since 1968, relocating from New York to London when he was appointed group managing director and chief operating officer in June 1991.
 "Under Peter's leadership and direction, the Minet Group is well positioned to meet the challenges of the nineties," Pettitt said.
 Pettitt, 55, retires after 32 years with Minet, having served as chairman and chief executive officer since 1982.
 Headquartered in St. Paul, The St. Paul Companies is a worldwide insurance organization whose members provide insurance underwriting and insurance brokerage products and services. Founded in 1853, The St. Paul is Minnesota's oldest business corporation.
