CHRISTENSEN NAMED PRESIDENT OF MILES' CONSUMER HEALTHCARE PRODUCTS

 PITTSBURGH, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Miles Inc. announced today that Torben Christensen, vice president and general manager of the company's Dental Products business has been named senior vice president and president of Consumer Healthcare Products, effective today.
 The Consumer Healthcare Products business unit of Miles Inc., based in Elkhart, Ind., is responsible for research, development, manufacturing and marketing of such well-known brands as Alka-Seltzer, Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine, One-A-Day, Flintstones and Bugs Bunny multiple vitamin supplements, Bactine and Mycelex-7.
 Christensen will report to Horst K.D. Wallrabe, executive vice president and president, Pharmaceutical Division. He succeeds Werner Spinner as head of the Consumer Healthcare Products business. Spinner is returning to Germany to assume a senior executive position with Miles' parent company. Spinner has been in charge of Consumer Healthcare Products for almost three years.
 Christensen, a native of Denmark, has spent 26 years with the Miles organization and began his career in 1966 with the former Ames Division, holding numerous positions of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing management both in the U.S. and internationally. He has a degree in biology from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
 Miles Inc. is a Fortune 100, research-based company with major businesses in chemicals, health care and imaging technologies. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, the company employs some 23,000 people in its operations throughout North America. In 1992 the company's sales were about $6.5 billion.
