CHP deputy asks for official data on mythomania, hubris.

ySTANBUL (CyHAN)- Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Sezgin Tanrykulu has submitted a parliamentary question asking for statistical data pertaining to Turkey's sufferers of mythomania and hubris.

"What is the number of patients who have suffered from mythomania and hubris syndrome in Turkey over the last 11 years?" Tanrykulu asked in his question on Monday.

The question came after Fuat Avni -- a Twitter user who conceals his true identity, posting tweets that provide a constant stream of information about President Recep Tayyip Erdoy-an -- posted tweets on Oct. 20 in which he claimed that Erdoy-an shows symptoms of mythomania and hubris syndrome.

Mythomania is a psychological term for a syndrome in which an individual lies repeatedly for no reason, while hubris syndrome is defined by an overestimation of one's importance and abilities.

Tanrykulu therefore demanded that Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoy-lu provide data on the number of psychological patients who lie repeatedly and are overly self-confident.

"Are mythomania and hubris syndrome treated effectively in Turkey? Do the techniques used to treat these syndromes comply with the international accreditation criteria? What is the number of patients who have received treatment for these psychological disorders in the last 11 years?"

In the question, he also enquires whether the Ministry of Health has an action plan to contain mythomania and hubris syndrome.

"Are the treatment costs of mythomania and hubris covered by the Social Security Institution [SGK]? ... What is the outline of the action plan to tackle these disorders? Is it appropriate for individuals who suffer from mythomania and hubris to serve as public officials?" Tanrykulu asked.
