CHOOSING A CRUISE? NEW BERLITZ GUIDE MAKES THE SELECTION EASY

CHOOSING A CRUISE? NEW BERLITZ GUIDE MAKES THE SELECTION EASY
NEW YORK, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- When it comes to selecting the

right cruise, it's a tough choice. For traveler -- and travel agent -- the choices of destination, ships, style of cruise, and best value can be daunting.
The new edition of the "Berlitz Complete Guide to Cruising and Cruise Ships," authored by Douglas Ward, a veteran of over 650 cruises, makes that choice easier.
Cruise consultants, travel agents, and other industry personnel use it as a comprehensive reference book while first-time and repeat cruise passengers find all the up-to-date information they need to select the right cruise, in an easily-readable format. The guide not only covers the present state of cruising, but also looks to the future via its lists of ocean going ships due to debut in the next few years.
"I have been in the business more than 20 years, and this book is absolutely the best!" said Anne Sullivan, American Society of Travel Agents.
"...the best and easiest to use," said Kaye Mann, Cruise Holidays.
Part One: The World of Cruising covers basic information -- how to select and book a cruise, what to expect from ship personnel, what's available in accommodations, cuisine, and shore excursions. Separate chapters are devoted to distinct markets -- singles, families, disabled travelers -- and specialty cruises: coastal, river/barge, ecological, world tours, Classic Voyages, and crossings.
Part Two: Cruise Ships Directory and Ratings. The Pick-a-Ship Chart classifies cruises according to the kind of passenger, ambience, activities, and style on board, what kind of value for money each cruise provides, whether it's good for children, etc.
For an objective picture, 165 oceangoing ships are rated according to such factors as cleanliness, overall condition and appearance, space, comfort, decor, cuisine, service, itineraries, shore programs, entertainment and other activities, staff, and physical facilities. Ratings are updated annually.
Meticulous documentation is provided by Douglas Ward. The world's foremost cruise expert, Ward is a founding member of the International Cruise Passengers Association and its president.
The "Berlitz Complete Guide to Cruising and Cruise Ships," published by Berlitz Publishing, is 352 pages and retails for $15.95 at all bookstores.
