CHINA PURCHASES FORD TEMPOS

DEARBORN, Mich., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The announcement by the People's Republic of China to purchase 5,200 Tempos is good news for Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) and the 4,192 employees at the Kansas City Assembly Plant.
"This purchase represents the equivalent of about two weeks' production at the Kansas City Plant," said John F. Brinkley, general manager of Ford's North American Automotive Operations Export Sales activity. "It also represents the largest single fleet order Ford
Export has ever received for North American-built products." Last year, the Chinese government ordered 3,010 Ford Tempos for use as taxis and tourist vehicles.
"We believe the Ford Tempo was chosen again because of the positive experience with the reliability, size, performance and quality of the vehicles purchased last summer.
"We will continue to seek new markets for our North American-built products in Asia-Pacific and elsewhere," said Mr. Brinkley. "This second order from China demonstrates their confidence in American-made products."
