CHEVY LOWERS PRICES FOR 1993

 CHEVY LOWERS PRICES FOR 1993
WARREN, Mich., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevrolet Motor Division

today announced it would lower base sticker prices on two of its most popular cars for 1993 and hold the price line on two other key vehicles, while applying only modest increases to its other cars and trucks.
"At Chevrolet, the concept of 'affordable value' long has been a key element in our brand character," Chevrolet General Manager Jim C. Perkins said. "We know consumers are concerned about the escalating cost of new cars and trucks, and the complexity of incentives now used by the industry."
"Our marketing strategy is designed to simplify and improve the buying experience for our customers, and this pricing move is a necessary first step in that strategy," Perkins added.
"We hope these aggressive pricing actions on some of our most popular products will signal potential Chevrolet and Geo customers everywhere that value for the dollar continues as a hallmark for Chevrolet -- at a time when GM's competitors are sending prices through the roof," Perkins said.
 - The lowest-priced Cavalier -- Chevrolet's most popular car line -- will start at $8,520, down from $8,899 for the 1992 model.
 - The base price on the hot-selling three-door Geo Metro -- the U.S. fuel economy leader -- has been reduced to $6,710 from $6,999.
 - Base prices on the Lumina sedan, GM's most popular mid-size car, and the Chevrolet S-10 4-door Blazer sport utility vehicle remain unchanged from 1992 -- at $13,400 and $15,783, respectively.
The reduced and carryover prices were accomplished in most cases without removing content from the vehicles. In fact, on some models content was increased, with such items as automatic power door locks, intermittent windshield wipers and uplevel trims made standard at no additional charge.
