CHEVY'S WESTERN REGION POSTS JUNE SALES INCREASE

LOS ANGELES, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevrolet retail passenger car and truck sales in the Western Region continue to climb over year-ago levels, with the Los Angeles Zone posting increases of 18 percent (1,840 cars) and 15 percent (3,763 trucks), and the Phoenix Zone recording a 35.4 percent passenger car increase (1,516 cars) and 17.3 percent truck increase (3,056 trucks) against June '92 performance.
Both zones also recorded strong six-month calendar year increases vs. '92 with Los Angeles up 24 percent (9,736 passenger cars) and 20 percent (19,708 trucks) and Phoenix up 29 percent (7,600 passenger cars) and 16 percent (15,510 trucks).
No surprise to analysts of the hot California truck market, the top four best-selling Chevrolets in the Los Angeles Zone for June are trucks, led by the Full-Size Chevy Pickup (1,548 units), followed by Astro (528), S-10 Pickup (520) and Suburban (507). Prizm (438), Camaro (350) and Geo Metro (322) continue in fifth, sixth and seventh place, with S-10 Blazer (268) trading places with Cavalier (210) and Storm (189) rounding out the top 10.
The Full-Size Chevy Pickup dominates the Phoenix Zone list for June (1,548), followed by S-10 Pickup (371), Geo Metro (303), Suburban (266), with Cavalier and Astro tied for fifth with 264 units each, Geo Storm (208), S-10 Blazer (204), Lumina (194), Camaro (187) and Prizm (171).
"There's no question affordable value sells," said Gordon Burleigh, Chevrolet Western regional marketing manager. "Chevy's got hot product priced right, and the customer is saying, `Yes.'
"This trend shows Chevrolet's got a life, and it's getting better all the time," Burleigh said.
