CHEVY'S ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION JUNE SALES CLIMB

DENVER, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevrolet's Rocky Mountain Region continues its sales climb in June with a 33 percent retail passenger car sales increase (1,998 cars) and 37 percent truck sales increase (4,513) over the same period last year.
Denver zone retail car and truck sales increased 34 percent (1,296 cars) and 31 percent (2,387 trucks), and Salt Lake City zone sales climbed 32 percent (702 cars) and 45 percent (2,126 trucks) against June '92.
Not surprising, the Full-Size Chevy Pickup again tops the division's best-seller list in both zones, with the Geo Metro holding the No. 2 spot.
"Trucks are very popular in the Rocky Mountain Region because of their fantastic versatility and convenience," said Dan Semenik, Chevrolet's regional marketing manager. "Not everyone goes off-road, so trucks are used a lot for pleasure and personal use as well. We're also finding our extended cab pickups provide that extra versatility many customers want," Semenik said.
Other top 10 Chevy best-selling vehicles for June in Denver include Cavalier, S-10 Blazer, S-10 Pickup, Geo Storm, Suburban, Full-Size Chevy Van, Geo Prizm and Astro.
Salt Lake City's Chevy favorites include the Suburban in No. 3 spot, followed by S-10 Blazer, S-10 Pickup, Astro, Cavalier, Geo Prizm and Storm and the Full-Size Blazer rounding out the Top 10.
"Metro stays at the top because it's an economical, fun car at a great price for the young buyer," said Semenik, noting the car's broad appeal in the region. "And Suburban is really gaining ground, along with Metro and Cavalier," Semenik said.
