CHEVRON TO STOP MARKETING MOTOR FUEL IN MONTANA AND PART OF WYOMING
SEATTLE, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevron U.S.A. Products Company today announced that the company has decided effective July 31 to withdraw from marketing motor fuel in Montana and part of Wyoming.
This decision affects approximately 60 Chevron-branded service stations supplied by 13 jobbers in the two states. The company expects these stations to change to other motor fuel brands. Chevron's withdrawal from these markets is not expected to significantly impact motorists in either state.
"This action will enable Chevron to focus more resources in its core market areas, where our competitive position is stronger and our long-term prospects are better," said Larry Day, Chevron regional marketing manager.
Day said that the company, which does not have refinery facilities or petroleum products terminals in Montana and Wyoming, will continue to sell motor fuel refined at its Salt Lake City Refinery for distribution in three Wyoming counties (Uinta, Lincoln and Teton). Nearly one half of Chevron's branded Wyoming stations are located within these counties, which can be efficiently supplied with product from the Salt Lake City Refinery.
Chevron also sells lubricants in Montana and Wyoming, and the company's relationship with branded lubricants jobbers in these states will continue.
San Francisco-based Chevron U.S.A. Products Company is one of the nation's largest refiners and marketers of petroleum products in the United States.
