CHEVRON ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF VICE PRESIDENT
PAUL R. LARSON, APPOINTMENT OF PETER McCREA
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevron U.S.A. Products Co. today announced that Paul R. Larson will retire after a distinguished 38-year career with Chevron and will be succeeded as vice president, supply and distribution, by Peter McCrea, who is currently senior vice president of Chevron International Oil Co.
The changes will take effect Sept. 30. The products company is responsible for refining, marketing and distributing Chevron's petroleum products in the United States.
"Paul has made a valuable contribution in the formation and progress of our management team, and I'll miss him," said Dave Hoyer, president of the products company. "However, I'm confident that the talent and experience of Peter McCrea will make him a strong addition to our team."
Larson, 62, joined Chevron in 1954 and served in a number of key refining assignments during his career. He worked in supervisory positions at refineries in Richmond, Calif.; El Paso, Texas; Venezuela; and El Segundo, Calif., before becoming manager of the Salt Lake City Refinery in 1968-69. He was operations manager and general manager of the large Pascagoula, Miss., refinery from 1969 to 1977, during a time when the refinery underwent two expansions.
He later became general manager, operations, for the refining department, and in 1984 was appointed vice president of refining (then called manufacturing). Last year, he became vice president of supply and distribution.
A native of Concord, Calif., he holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
McCrea, 52, is senior vice president of cargo trading and supply for Chevron International, which is based in San Francisco.
He joined Chevron in 1964 and progressed through construction engineering assignments with affiliate Arabian-American Oil Co. before moving to Chevron's engineering department in 1969. During the next 10 years, he held a variety of assignments with Chevron's organization department and with supply and distribution.
In 1979, he moved to Chevron Chemical Co., where he served in several key posts, including vice president of the fertilizer division from 1985 to 1990, when he moved to Chevron International.
A native of San Francisco, McCrea holds a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and an engineering degree from Thayer School of Engineering.
