 CHESAPEAKE CORPORATION ANNOUNCES FINANCE DEPARTMENT REORGANIZATION
 RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Q. Andrew J. Kohut, vice president-finance & chief financial officer, announced today that Chesapeake's (NYSE: CSK) corporate finance department has been reorganized. In the reorganization, John W. Kirk has been elected to the position of vice president-strategic development. Christopher R. Burgess has been elected controller, and Charles R. Smith has been named assistant controller. "Jack Kirk will be responsible for Chesapeake's ongoing planning process and corporate development activities. Chris Burgess will manage both the corporate controller and treasury departments. Additionally, he will maintain working relationships with the financial departments of the company's operating subsidiaries. Charles Smith will be the corporation's lead spokesperson on accounting issues and compliance-related items," Kohut commented.
 "These changes provide the corporate finance department with the proper structure to meet the challenges of the 90s. These three individuals bring a wealth of experience and industry knowledge to their new positions, which is critical as we implement our corporate strategy," added Kohut.
 Kirk has served as Chesapeake's controller since 1981. He holds a BS and an MBA from the University of Richmond. Burgess was most recently Chesapeake's director of strategic analysis. He received a BS from The City University of London, England, and an MBA from The College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va. Smith's most recent position with Chesapeake was manager of corporate accounting, and he is a Certified Management Accountant. He earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and his MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
 Chesapeake Corporation, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Richmond, Va., is an integrated paper and forest products company. Chesapeake's primary businesses include tissue and kraft paper products and packaging. Other businesses are treated wood, land development and consumer tissue products.
