Byline: ROZ LAWS

CHERNOBYL DIARIES (15) CAST: Jesse McCartney, Devin Kelley, Dimitri Diatchenko, Jonathan Sadowski PLOT: Chris (McCartney) is visiting his brother Paul (Sadowski) in Kiev, along with some friends. They pay extreme tour guide Uri (Diatchenko) to take them to Pripyat, the ghost town where workers at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant lived before they hastily abandoned it in 1986 when the reactor blew up. What follows is a cross between The Descent and Hostel, as the group discover that radiation levels are the least of their worries.

GOOD POINTS: The unique setting is interesting, and there are a couple of surprises. The script comes from Oren 'Paranormal Activity' Peli. The fact we are kept in the dark about just what it is attacking them ratchets up the tension.

BAD POINTS: It's not that scary and it's full of clichs, like a rickety bridge and the repeated use of the phrase 'Let's get out of here'.

SHOULD I SEE IT? Perhaps, if you like this sort of thriller. It's not as toxic as some critics would have you believe.

TOXIC: The cast of Chernobyl Diaries.
