CHEMICAL BANKING APPOINTS STACK AS EXECUTIVE IN CHARGE OF
NEW YORK CONSUMER BANKING GROUP
NEW YORK, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Chemical Banking Corporation (NYSE: CHL) today announced the appointment of John J. Stack as executive in charge of the New York Consumer Banking Group, including management of its 426 branches statewide.
Stack, 45, joined Chemical in 1977 and has held a wide range of senior management positions in retail banking, most recently as executive in charge of implementing the integration of consumer banking activities following the merger of Chemical Banking Corporation and Manufacturers Hanover Corporation. Prior to joining Chemical, Stack was an aid to Mayor John V. Lindsay. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard University Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor's Degree from Iona College. Stack lives with his wife and daughter in New York City.
In his new position, Stack succeeds Alan M. Silberstein, who has accepted a newly established position as executive vice president and director of retail banking at Midlantic Corporation.
