CHEMICAL BANK $150M 12-YEAR 6-5/8 PERCENT SUBORDINATED NOTES RATED 'A-' BY FITCH -- FITCH FINANCIAL WIRE --

 NEW YORK, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Chemical Bank's newly issued $150 million 6-5/8 percent subordinated notes, due Aug. 15, 2005, are rated "A-" by Fitch. The credit trend is stable. Chemical Bank is the principal subsidiary of Chemical Banking Corp.
 The rating reflects strengthened core earnings enhanced by meaningful reductions in overhead costs, substantial liquidity at the bank, and improving asset quality measurements.
