CHEERS!; The MBE for Michelle, 19 - Knighthood for Harrison.
MERSEYSIDERS have picked up a host of awards in the New Year's honours list.
Teenage charity fundraiser Michelle Lewis becomes the youngest person to be awarded the MBE since World War II.
History will be made when George Harrison receives Britain's firstever posthumous knighthood. The ex-Beatle, who died in November, aged 58, will be formally honoured in the Birthday honours list in June.
Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister also gets the MBE, there is a CBE for Liverpool council leader Mike Storey and a knighthood for Liverpool-born Tesco boss Terry Leahy.
A government spokesman said Harrison would have been included in the New Year's honours list but there was not enough time to organise it.
Michelle 19, suffers from arthogryposis but has raised more than pounds 1m for good causes over the last 11 years. She said: "I cannot believe I've got the MBE - it means so much to me."
Mike Storey said: "I am surprised but delighted to be awarded this honour."
