 CHECKPOINT SYSTEMS DIVERSIFIES PRODUCT LINE
 WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF COLORTAG(R)
THOROFARE, N.J., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Checkpoint Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHEK), a proven leader in the loss prevention industry, now offers Checkpoint ColorTag(R), an effective deterrent against shoplifting, which, if forcibly removed, permanently stains merchandise with dye rendering it unsuitable for resale or return.
According to A.E. Wolf, president and chief executive officer, Checkpoint ColorTag will help Checkpoint attack new markets including apparel and department stores and complements the company's comprehensive Electronic Article Merchandising(SM) (EAM) product line.
"The addition of Checkpoint ColorTag to our product line is the first step in our long-term diversification program," Wolf said. "We want to work with retailers as the one-source company for all their loss prevention needs. Checkpoint ColorTag will allow our retail customers to form two lines of defense against shoplifters. Used in conjunction with EAM, Checkpoint ColorTag will send an uncompromising message to would-be shoplifters."
Compatible with all Checkpoint and other EAS hard tags, the new device is easy to attach and easy to remove with any standard detacher. Manufactured to withstand rugged handling, forced removal will cause breakage and permanently stain merchandise. Checkpoint ColorTag's compact and lightweight design allows shoppers to examine and try on clothing with ease. "We wanted to give retailers an alternative to chaining valuable merchandise down which inhibits sales. The combination of Checkpoint ColorTag and EAM will enhance the retailers' merchandising freedom and contribute to increased sales," said Wolf.
Checkpoint Systems, Inc. offers retailers a variety of solutions for their loss prevention needs. As the leading developer and manufacturer of advanced microprocessor and radio frequency-based security systems, the company has more than 20 years of experience in the loss prevention industry. Checkpoint's Electronic Article Merchandising (EAM) and Electronic Access Control (EAC) systems are based on its Electronic Signatures(R) technology which makes unique radio signals assignable to items or people. Using detectable, paper-thin, disposable security circuits that can be activated and deactivated without contact, the company's EAM systems are installed in more than 50,000 retail locations worldwide. All of the company's loss prevention products, from EAM to EAC, work together to provide retailers with the most comprehensive security solutions available in the industry today.
