CHECKERS DRIVE-IN RESTAURANTS ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF VICE PRESIDENT-MARKETING

 CLEARWATER, Fla., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- James E. Mattei, president and chief executive officer, today announced that Anthony J. Monzo has been appointed vice president-marketing for Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHKR). "Tony Monzo has extensive experience in working with aggressive growth food companies, and is a welcome addition to our proven management team," Mattei said.
 Monzo is a 21-year industry veteran with a broad background in food marketing. He served as vice president of marketing for Hardees Food Systems, Inc. where he was responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and advertising plans and executive vice president of marketing for Bojangles Chicken. For the past five years, Monzo was president and owner of Monzo Marketing in Atlanta where his client base included Coca Cola U.S.A.
 Monzo stated, "Checkers is the most exciting concept in the quick service restaurant category. I'm delighted to be a part of the management team and look forward to developing a marketing program which will keep Checkers on the leading edge of the industry."
 Monzo is a graduate of St. Joseph's University from which he holds a B.S. degree in food marketing.
 Checkers develops, produces, owns, operates and franchises quick- service "double drive-through" restaurants under the trademark of "Checkers". Checkers has 256 locations in 17 states, 115 of which are company operated and 141 of which are operated by franchisees.
