CHATTER AND WIN; BT and Lisa launch giveaway in city.

POP star Lisa Scott Lee has stepped in to persuade people to keep chatting.

BT has unveiled a drive to get people talking again, instead of using texts and e-mails.

And it chose Steps star Lisa, and a Liverpool phonebox, to launch the initiative.

BT is challenging Scousers to chat for a cash prize in the network's telephone boxes.

Everyone in the area is being encouraged to call a designated Chatterbox competition number and talk on a subject of their choice without an `umm' or `err' - for 30 seconds.

Those successful could go onto win a pounds 1,000 prize. The telecom giant says that 30p buys customers 15 minutes of local or national talk time at any time of the day - although not to mobile phones or premium rate numbers.

Lisa said: ``Chatting from a BT pay phone is good value and great fun.

``I hope the Chatterbox competition will inspire the people of Liverpool to get chatting again.''

The contest is being advertised on bus tickets, radio, in newspapers and in phone boxes
