CHATROOM The best of your emails.

vvGoing too far Richard Dickerson (Chatroom, yesterday) is taking the distances quoted regarding the comparison of Frankel to Usain Bolt too literally. I was merely pointing out it is not necessary for either a human or an animal to race beyond its best trip simply to emphasise that it is the greatest.

The Arc may be only 320 metres beyond Frankel's previous winning distance, but how many horses over the years have tied up and stopped to nothing inside that sort of yardage? As the Arc is usually a rough race, there is no guarantee Frankel would cope with it.

Tony, Chelmsford vvA mereb eginner Alastair Down (September 6) gripes that "Frankel will have had 14 runs and doesn't need to be tested to the point of destruction". Running the three times Arc runner up Youmzain in 32 races didn't seem to do him any harm.

Gary, Sidcup vvAbbey habit Once again St Nicholas Abbey was staying on at the end of a mile and a quarter race. Surely now that will be the last we see of him at that distance.
