CHASE MANHATTAN BANK SEMINARS BRING ENTERTAINMENT TO INVESTMENTS

NEW YORK, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A. (NYSE: CMB) announced today that it is presenting a series of six investment seminars with a unique and entertaining format designed to meet various aspects of attendees' investment needs.
Headlined by Ken and Daria Dolan, nationally syndicated radio and television talk-show hosts, of WOR-AM and CNBC-TV; Sonny Bloch of WOR-AM and Bruce Williams of NBC's Talknet, the seminars will feature a talk- show format with one of the celebrities interviewing experts on investment strategy, the investments themselves and even the psychology of money and its role in people's lives.
"These Chase seminars will put fun into the sometimes overwhelming business of managing one's finances," said Mitch Ratliff, vice president at the Chase Manhattan Bank. "Most people avoid the issue all year except at tax-time. We thought we would break this trend by showing people that this entire subject can be manageable."
As part of the seminar, attendees may arrange for a free investment consultation session at the Chase branch of their choice regardless of whether they are a Chase customer.
"We have received many questions about investment strategies, particularly in light of the expected tax package. Chase designed a seminar to help answer people's toughest questions about saving and investing in the Clinton Years," Mr. Ratliff added.
The seminars are designed to help attendees determine their financial strategy, evaluate the success of their investments as part of that strategy, and understand why they respond to money the way they do so that they can become more objective about it.
Olivia Mellan, author of "Ten Days to Money Harmony: A Guide for Individuals and Couples," will participate in most of the seminars to provide insight into how money represents different things to different people, sometimes creating confusion among couples.
"Money can symbolize power, security, dependence, independence or any number of things to people, causing them to be hoarders or spenders, among many categories. Understanding this can help people become less emotional and better able to make money work to their advantage," she says.
