CHANNEL MARKETING LICENSED TO OPERATE OFFICE IN VIETNAM

DALLAS, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- On Jan. 11, 1993, Channel Marketing Corp. was issued a license by the United States Department of the Treasury to open an office and begin doing business on behalf of its clients in Vietnam.
Channel Marketing is working with a number of Vietnamese nationals and is beginning to explore new business opportunities for its existing as well as potential new clients. Most companies are interested in identifying potential business opportunities and new channels of distribution for their products.
Channel Marketing's current activities in Vietnam include performing market research studies; feasibility studies; identifying consumer products for United States companies to export; and assisting United States based companies in establishing manufacturing facilities to take advantage of Vietnam's low labor costs.
"In some ways, doing business in Vietnam today can be compared to doing business with Mexico in the 1960s. It is a huge new emerging market with a pent-up demand for both consumables and high quality used equipment," said Merridee Matson, president of CMC International, a division of Channel Marketing. With a population comprised of approximately 70 million literate people, there also exists a quality employee base for American manufacturers. Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are larger in population than Los Angeles and Chicago.
Channel Marketing projects a healthy volume of business with Vietnam once the United States trade embargo is lifted. This is due in part to the fairly stable economic and political environment. "American companies are continuing to lose substantial amounts of money on ventures with the Commonwealth of Independent States, so they are looking to develop trade with countries that can add to rather than subtract from their profitability," said Matson. "In addition, there will continue to be economic instability for some time to come in the Commonwealth, whereas in Vietnam the situation will be on a more steady course."
Channel Marketing, headquartered in Dallas, is an international sales and marketing consulting firm that specializes in helping manufacturers and retailers increase sales by opening new markets for its clients, expanding channels of distribution for current products and assisting in bringing new products to market.
