CHANNEL MARKETING CORP. EXPECTS NAFTA TO BE A BOOM FOR U.S. PC MANUFACTURERS

 CARROLLTON, Texas, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. personal computer manufacturers have received a holiday gift that will be worth billions of dollars in increased business through the end of the decade as President Clinton signs the North American Free Trade Agreement today.
 Enactment of the North American Free Trade Agreement on Jan. 1, 1994, opens a market for computers and computer-related products that virtually did not exists. High tariffs on computers and electronics products shipped from the United States prohibited many PC manufacturers from successfully participating in the Canadian and Mexican markets. With an immediate reduction or elimination of many of those tariffs, the United States will now be able to effectively compete. Presently, Asian manufacturers are enjoying the majority PC sales into Canada and Mexico.
 CMC estimates that approximately $2 billion in computers have been sold to Mexico alone this year by U.S. manufacturers. Channel Marketing Corp. expects that an increase of over 30 percent will occur next year.
