CHANNEL 56 AUCTION NEEDS MERCHANDISE

DETROIT, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- With its 25th annual auction scheduled to air through Saturday, April 24, Channel 56 faces a severe shortage of donated merchandise to sell to high bidders during the televised event. Businesses and individuals with goods or services to contribute are asked to call 313-876-8350 now.
The WTVS fund-raiser for Detroit Public Television is in urgent need of brand-new items with a minimum retail value of $100, such as household goods, clothing, electronics and sporting goods. Gift certificates for shopping sprees, restaurants and services are also in demand.
Merchants who donate to the Channel 56 Auction benefit through valuable television exposure when their item is shown on the air, eligibility for tax breaks and community goodwill for their support of Detroit Public Television.
The auction will be broadcast on Channel 56 weekdays from 5:30 to 11:45 p.m. and Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to midnight. Funds raised through this special event make possible the broadcasts of programs such as "Barney & Friends," "Club Connect," "Masterpiece Theatre" and "The Civil War."
