Doug Tewell Captures PGA Seniors Championship for First Major

with New HP Tour Golf Ball.

The world's best players demand superior performance and uncompromising consistency from themselves and their golf equipment. That's why Stewart Cink trusted Titleist equipment for his tee to green success en route to a two-stroke victory at the MCI Classic. Relying on the Titleist Professional golf ball, DCI 990 irons, Titleist Titanium 975D driver, Pro Trajectory 975F fairway metal, Vokey Design lob wedge and a Scotty Cameron by Titleist Newport putter, Cink fired a final round 6-under par 65 in the win, which included birdies on three of the final four holes.

With the victory, Titleist increased its 2000 PGA Tour-leading win count in the golf ball (13), driver (6), iron (5) and putter (9) categories through the first 16 events of the season.

Similar to last week's Masters event, the names of Titleist golf ball loyalists blanketed the MCI Classic leaderboard throughout the tournament, culminating with 9 of the top 10 finishers relying upon Titleist for the second consecutive week. A total of 78 players trusted Titleist at the MCI Classic, six times more than the nearest competitor with 13.

SENIOR PGA TOUR: Doug Tewell earned his first career Senior PGA Tour major with a seven-stroke, wire-to-wire victory at the rain-shortened PGA Seniors' Championship. Tewell relies upon the new Titleist HP Tour golf ball for his success, topping a list of 11 players who finished among the top 10 and ties, nine of whom trust their games to Titleist. Tewell's victory marks the 8th win for Titleist through the first 10 Senior PGA tournaments this year, including the last six consecutive. Tewell's victory also extends Titleist's streak of major wins on the 2000 PGA, Senior PGA and LPGA Tours to a perfect 4-of-4. In fact, four different Titleist high performance golf balls have accounted for the four major victories to date: Masters (Vijay Singh, Professional), The Tradition (Tom Kite, Tour Prestige), PGA Seniors? Championship (Tewell, HP Tour ) and Nabisco Championship (Karrie Webb, Tour Balata).

LPGA TOUR: Juli Inkster continued the Titleist momentum on the 2000 LPGA Tour, defending her Longs Drug Challenge title with a five-stroke victory. Playing in windy conditions, Inkster relied upon the longer distance and penetrating ball flight of the Titleist Professional for her success. Inkster's win also marked the 8th for Titleist through the first 10 LPGA events this season. She joins a Titleist 2000 Champions' Circle that already includes Karrie Webb (Nabisco Championship, Takefuji Classic, Australian Ladies Masters, The Office Depot), Charlotta Sorenstam (Standard Register Ping), Betsy King (Cup Noodles Hawaiian Open) and Nancy Scranton (Subaru Memorial of Naples).

BUY.COM TOUR: Kent Jones captured the Shreveport Open title by one stroke, his name atop a leaderboard where all seven players who finished among the top five and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls. Jones trusts the Titleist Professional for his success, as do Tripp Isenhour and Keith Clearwater, who tied for second to make it a Professional top three sweep. Titleist was the choice of 96 players, six times more than the nearest competitor with 16. Jones' victory marks the fifth Titleist win through the first six events on the 2000 Buy.com Tour season.

Four more golf ball victories this week increases Titleist's year-to-date win count on the worldwide professional tours to 48, 12 times the nearest competitor with 4, reaffirming that there is a difference between a golf ball and the #1 ball in golf. Titleist.
