CHAMBERS WORKS UPDATE ISSUED

 CHAMBERS WORKS UPDATE ISSUED
The following news advisory provides an update on the situation that

occurred this morning at Du Pont's Chambers Works site in Deepwater, N.J.:
Three employees were injured in a small explosion and immediately transferred to area hospitals for treatment.
Kenneth Cappaso Jr., 36, Bridgeport, N.J., is listed in stable condition at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in Camden, with second degree burns to the face and a separated shoulder.
Joseph Dzielak, 43, Bear, Del., is listed in good condition at Crozer Chester Medical Center, with superficial burns and a fractured collarbone.
Linda Donnell, 35, Carneys Point, N.J., is listed in good condition Christiana Hospital, with a scalp laceration.
The three employees were using pressurized water to clean a 22,000 gallon tank that contained sludge, motor fuel antiknock compounds and gasoline. Investigators believe vapors were ignited by an unknown source. The employees were wearing full body protection equipment, including fireproof clothing and full face respirators.
No environmental damage occurred. All appropriate governmental agencies were notified.
"All of us at Chambers Works are concerned, but expect that our fellow employees will fully recover from their injuries," said John Sieg, site manager. "We will continue our investigation until we uncover the exact cause of the incident and put measures in place to prevent a similar occurrence in the future."
