CHAMBERS REACHES AGREEMENT FOR EXPANSION OF INDIANA LANDFILL
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Chambers Development Company, Inc., (AMEX: CDVA, CDVB) and the White County, Ind., Board of Commissioners have signed an agreement for the expansion of Chambers' Liberty Landfill, it was announced today.
The agreement is contingent upon Chambers' receipt of necessary land use approvals, permit renewals and a final non-appealable permit or permit modification for the 60-acre expansion the company is seeking for its Liberty landfill from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
Under the agreement, the company can take up to 1,500 tons of solid waste per day, of which up to 500 tons would be guaranteed for waste generated in White County and the Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District. The remaining 1,000 tons per day could be accepted from northern Indiana counties and the Chicago metropolitan area, including the Illinois counties of Champaign, Cook, DuPage, Iroquois, Kankakee, Lake, Vermillion and Will.
In addition, Chambers agreed to guarantee 20 years of solid waste disposal capacity to White County and five other counties in the solid waste district.
"Chambers has maintained an outstanding facility in White County and we are pleased to have an agreement in place that provides midwestern residents with environmentally sound disposal," said Alexander Rangos, Chambers' executive vice president of operations and corporate development. "We will continue to work closely with the White County commissioners, Liberty Township and state regulatory agencies on all issues regarding our operation."
Chambers is a leading environmental firm offering services in landfill development, transfer station operation and recycling, as well as the collection, transportation and disposal of residential, commercial, non-hazardous industrial and medical solid wastes. The company also provides security services through its wholly owned subsidiary, Security Bureau, Inc., the 10th largest U.S. security firm.
