CHAMBERS APPOINTS PUBLIC AFFAIRS MANAGER FOR SOUTHERN REGION
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Chambers Development Company, Inc., (AMEX: CDVB) announced today that it has appointed Laurie Naismith manager of public affairs for its Southern Region operations.
Naismith will work in the company's regional office in Atlanta.
Naismith, who has more than 15 years of diverse domestic and international experience in public affairs, program building and marketing, will be responsible for government relations and public relations in nine southern states.
"Laurie's addition to the company is a valuable management asset. We are pleased to add an experienced public affairs professional to our management team," said John Shirbinsky, Chambers' vice president of public affairs.
Prior to joining Chambers, Naismith was studying for her master's degree in European studies at The London School of Economics and Political Science. During that time, she also served as director of the James Madison University Internship Program in London.
A native of Norfolk, Va., Naismith, 39, has served in a variety of governmental capacities in Virginia: former commissioner, Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board (1985-87); former Secretary of State and a member of the Governor's Cabinet in Virginia under Gov. Charles Robb (1982-85); director of scheduling and advance, gubernatorial campaign (1981); director of public affairs and programs in the Lieutenant Governor's office (1978-81); director of scheduling and advance in the Lieutenant Governor's campaign (1977).
In 1989, she assisted in setting up the U.S. National Governors' Association delegation meeting with officials of the European Economic Community in Brussels, Belgium. In 1986, she was a delegate with the American Council of Young Political Leaders study tour of India. She has participated in the Women in Leadership conference to the Soviet Union and the Virginia Economic Development Mission to Israel.
In 1985 was selected by the White House as a member and the only woman of the official U.S. delegation to observe the run-off election in El Salvador.
Naismith served on the board of directors of Old Dominion University, The Richmond Symphony, The Central Virginia Girl Scout Council, Leadership Metro Richmond and the Governor's Arts Awards. Currently, she is a member of the Nautilus Museum Board.
Naismith has commenced her requirements for a master's degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science (thesis approval pending) and has a bachelor's degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
Chambers has southern operations in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Texas and Tennessee.
