CFI Names New CEO.

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The board of directors of CFI, a privately held international truckload carrier based in Joplin, Missouri, is pleased to announce that Herbert J. Schmidt has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective October 24, 2005.

Mr. Schmidt, who was appointed President in 2000, will retain his current title in addition to the newly accepted title of CEO. He joined the company in 1984 and has served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Vice President of Safety, Vice President of Administration, and Senior Vice President of Operations. Prior to CFI, Mr. Schmidt worked with United Parcel Service in operations and industrial engineering. He graduated summa cum laude from Missouri Southern State College in 1978.

Commenting on the new appointment, Glenn F. Brown, Chairman, said: "Schmidt has the extensive experience necessary to assume this more substantial role. Based on his proven track record, I am confident in his ability to provide leadership and growth for CFI." Glenn F. Brown, who was named President in 1986 and served as Chairman and CEO since 2000, retains the title of Chairman.

CFI, founded in 1951, operates over 2,300 tractors and over 7,300 trailers and transports a variety of goods throughout the contiguous United States and Canada. CFI interlines with Mexican carriers at various border crossings to provide through-trailer service to Mexico. In addition to its Joplin headquarters, CFI operates four terminals and numerous drop lots along the border and throughout the United States. CFI and its subsidiaries(a) have 37 sales offices throughout North America and a work force of over 3,000 people. The driver fleet is comprised of both company drivers and independent contractors.
