CF MOTORFREIGHT WINS STATEWIDE TRUCKING SAFETY AWARDS

 MENLO PARK, Calif., Nov. 23 ~PRNewswire~ -- CF MotorFreight, one of the nation's largest trucking companies, has been honored for its outstanding safety record, winning several awards -- including the Grand Trophy -- from the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association for the company's contribution to highway safety in 1991.
 "Safety on the highways has always been a top concern at our company," said Wendell Murphy, CF MotorFreight director of safety. "We are honored to be recognized by our peers in the industry and proud to have one of the best safety records in Pennsylvania and nationwide."
 The awards were presented at the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association's (PMTA) Awards Banquet Oct. 24 at Toftrees Hotel and Convention Center in State College, Pa.
 The Grand Trophy, sponsored by the PMTA, the American Trucking Associations and Trailmobile Corp., was awarded to CF MotorFreight for having the best overall safety record of any motor carrier in the state of Pennsylvania.
 CF MotorFreight also received a first-place award for outstanding safe driving for combined common carrier miles over 10 million.
 In addition, a safety award was presented to the company for placing second in safe driving for intercity general commodities carrier category with over 20 million miles.
 The PMTA's safety awards program judges companies on specific safety performance including accident frequency and mileage. The PMTA is a 2,500-member private trade association that promotes the interests of the trucking industry within Pennsylvania.
 CF MotorFreight maintains one of the largest, most modern truck fleets in North America. Company drivers logged 660 million miles delivering 15.2 billion pounds of freight in 1991. In addition, more than 3,950 CF MotorFreight drivers have achieved 1 million or more accident-free miles.
 In Pennsylvania, CF MotorFreight operates 27 terminals and employs more than 1,800 people, with major hub operations in York and Pocono.
 CF MotorFreight provides intermediate and long-haul transportation of less-than-truckload freight, which are commercial and industrial shipments generally weighing less than 10,000 pounds.
