 CENTRAL FLORIDA'S TWO LARGEST PROVIDERS
OF PEDIATRIC HOME HEALTH CARE FORM PARTNERSHIP
ORLANDO, Fla., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women, (Orlando, Fla.), a division of Orlando Regional Medical Center, has entered into a partnership with Healthfield, Inc. (Atlanta) to provide comprehensive pediatric home health care.
Healthfield, Inc., operates the Hug Centers of America (HCA), including locations in Orlando and Atlanta.
The Partnership is reflected by the new corporate name: The Hug Center, Affiliated with the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women.
"After two years of planning, the decision to unite made good business sense," said John Bozard, executive director, Arnold Palmer Hospital. "We realized that combining both programs meant greater opportunities for expansion and service to the Central Florida community."
"The Arnold Palmer Hospital's guidance and direct involvement combined with Healthfield's expertise in home care will greatly benefit the children, parents, physicians, discharge planners and case managers using this service," said Walter T. Thorn, vice president of Operations/Development for Healthfield, Inc.
The partnership will allow the Arnold Palmer Hospital and Healthfield to expand pediatric home services such as infusion, therapy, occupational, physical and speech therapy, patient assessment, private duty nursing, enteral feeding and apnea monitoring.
Since Healthfield's acquisition of the Hug Center (Orlando) in 1989, the size of the program has tripled. In addition to its centers in Orlando and Atlanta, it also operates in-home and facility-based centers in Tennessee, Alabama and Massachusetts.
A freestanding, 255-bed facility, the Arnold Palmer Hospital is one of four facilities nationally to incorporate comprehensive services for both children and women.
