CENTRAL AND SOUTH WEST CORPORATION UNIT TO PURCHASE $120,265,000 IN BONDS FROM BONDHOLDERS

 DALLAS, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Central and South West Corporation (NYSE: CSR) and Central Power and Light Company (CPL), one of its wholly owned operating subsidiaries, announced today that CPL will purchase $120,265,000 in tax-exempt pollution control revenue bonds from bondholders.
 The bonds specified below, issued by Matagorda County Navigation District Number One (Texas), were offered in accordance with the invitation to bondholders which expired at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time, on July 14, 1993, and will be purchased by CPL at the prices indicated below per $100 principal amount of bonds offered. The prices indicated will be paid to all holders of bonds purchased pursuant to the invitation. As of the expiration of the invitation, the following principal amounts of bonds had been offered to CPL by Bondholders either without specified prices or at prices per $100 principal amount equal to or less than the following prices:

 The settlement date of the purchase of these bonds will be July 30, 1993.
 CPL agreed to purchase from a holder outside the invitation the following principal amounts of bonds at prices not greater than the prices indicated below per $100 principal amount of bonds to be purchased:

 The settlement date of the purchase of these bonds will be July 30, 1993.

 Central and South West Corporation, a Dallas-based public utility holding company, owns four electric subsidiary companies that provide service to portions of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. It also owns an Oklahoma intrastate natural gas pipeline subsidiary and four other subsidiaries.
