CENTEL ANNOUNCES KURTZE ELECTED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT CHICAGO, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Centel Corp. (NYSE: CNT) announced
today that A. Alan Kurtze, senior vice president - planning and technology, has been elected executive vice president of the corporation by its board of directors.
In his new position, which is effective immediately, Kurtze, 47, will oversee Centel's legal, government relations, corporate communications, planning and technology, and administrative services departments. He reports to John P. Frazee Jr., chairman and chief executive officer. Kurtze joined Centel in 1972 as general sales manager of Central Telephone Company of North Carolina. He has held several management and executive positions within Centel, and was elected senior vice president - planning and technology in 1986. During his career, Kurtze helped organize Centel's original diversification strategies and directed the company's initial business communications sales efforts, which led to the formation of Centel Business Systems. Before joining Centel, he held management positions with Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company of Maryland. Kurtze is a member of the board of directors of Centel Federal Systems. He also is a member of the American Marketing Association and has served as a technical consultant to the Midwest Stock Exchange.
