 EDMUND T. PRATT JR. TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 WARREN, N.J., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Celgene Corporation (NASDAQ: CELG) today announced the election of John L. Ufheil as chairman of the company's board of directors. Ufheil, currently president and chief executive officer, succeeds Louis Fernandez, who has retired.
 The company's stockholders also elected Edmund T. Pratt Jr., chairman emeritus of Pfizer, Inc., to a seat on the board. Celgene's board of directors remains comprised of eight members.
 "Jack has made great contributions to Celgene and will, no doubt, continue to do so in his added capacity as chairman," said Fernandez. "Ed's extensive experience at Pfizer will be a great asset to the company as well."
 Ufheil has more than 32 years' experience in the specialty chemicals, fine chemicals and pharmaceutical business. He has been with Celgene since 1990.
 Pratt spent more than 25 years at Pfizer, where he held numerous positions, including chairman, president and chief executive officer. Pratt is a past chairman of both the President's Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations and the Emergency Committee for American Trade. During the Kennedy Administration, he served as Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management.
 Celgene Corporation, based in Warren, is a chemical biotechnology company engaged in the development of chiral chemicals and proprietary biotreatment systems to degrade hazardous wastes.
